Have you ever tried to work with clay? You will find out that, a part from the “magic” of making something, to mould is a sort of wellness therapy. On one side you’ll get the satisfaction of creating with your hands, on the other side you’ll absorb the relaxing property of the clay.
Gabriella met pottery by a chance, during a vacation in Umbria by a friend how is a Brazilian artist. Since her time off work is divided between her passion for cooking and creating with clay.
The various shapes which are coming out from Gabry’s hands are very different from each other. Pottery is only a pleasure for her so she isn’t putting any limit on the experimentation.
That’s why there are magmatic shapes, reinterpretations of the tree leafs (usually picked up from the streets), or studies of simple shapes decorated with unforeseeable glazes.
Mainly are the daily use object to capture her attention, the shapes are almost geometrical, like coffee cups, little plates, vases, boxes, bowls.
Last Christmas 2008 she created a collection of key holders inspired by pop art, here she underlined the lucid side of the object. No limits to the fantasy, often Gabriella is inspired from fer trips around the world. When a row object goes in to the oven what’s coming out after it has been baked is never guaranteed. The pleasure of discovering is starting from here (by making mistakes too), the unforeseeably of colours, originally ripe and then, after hours of baking, transformed from the very high temperature in to shiny hints . This is maybe the real trip of Gabriella, a not moving trip which takes to the elevation by tasting the pleasure of antique gestures reinterpreted into a contemporaneous key. |
